January 2015 Wrap Up

I think the one (and only) time I've done a wrap up on this blog was in August two years ago. Ouch. I don't know why I didn't continue? I remember it being a lot of fun. So much so that I'm bringing it back! And it's going to be a regular things!

I know, right! I'm trying to find more ways to be active on this blog, so I'm doing it in small ways (I'll talk more about that in another post).

So! January. It was actually a good month? I'm honestly surprised. When I went back to school last semester, I was drowning in so much school work I barely read more then three books a month. Which is awful! Because I love reading (duh). But this semester, I'm taking a Young Adult Literature course and we're reading such great books! I'm a little hesitant on the choices but I think they'll be great, I trust my professor.

Now, onto the wrap up!

January 2015 Book Haul

Wow, my first every book haul! I've been blogging for so long (over a year, in fact) and I've never done any book hauls! I'm terrible when it comes to this blog, I know, but I'm trying to improve. (I feel like I say that a lot, don't I?)

As for my spending, I think I did okay. Last year I bought over 100 books, averaging on almost 10 books a month, which was crazy. I didn't realize how crazy I was until I did the math. So when the new year started, I told myself I either a) wouldn't buy more books than the amount of books I've read that month or b) buy one book for every two books I've read. Clearly, I've chosen the first option (because I have no will power).

I bought only a couple of books, four to be exact, which is crazy good for me because I buy a lot! I feel crazy proud of myself! But (I know, not the but!) I bought a crazy amount of ebooks. What can I say! In my defense, they were all $2.99 or under, so I feel like I got a really good deal. God bless amazon and their kindle daily deals.

Top Ten Things I Like/Dislike in Romance Books!

The Top 10 Tuesday is a meme hosted by The Broke and Bookish where each week you post your top ten best, worst, etc. This week's topic? My top ten things I like and dislike in romance novels!

I love love in books! That's probably why contemporary is my favorite genre. I love when two characters fall in love and the road to getting there! Man oh man I live for that! And then, when I finish the book, I'm overwhelmed with the cuteness and I just hug my book to my chest! But there are also some things I don't like in romances. Lets take a look shall we?

Jude and her twin brother, Noah, are incredibly close. But three years later, Jude and Noah are barely speaking. Something has happened to wreck the twins in different and dramatic ways . . . until Jude meets a cocky, broken, beautiful boy, as well as someone else—an even more unpredictable new force in her life. The early years are Noah's story to tell. The later years are Jude's. What the twins don't realize is that they each have only half the story, and if they could just find their way back to one another, they’d have a chance to remake their world.

Don't Worry Babies, I'll Get to You Soon!

The Top 10 Tuesday is a meme hosted by The Broke and Bookish where each week you post your top ten best, worst, etc. This week's topic? My top ten 2014 releases I meant to read but didn't get to.

Every year, I create a space in my journal and jot down all of the book releases coming each month, and being the compulsive book buyer that I am, I pre-order all the one's I'm excited for. I'm happy to say I got through a lot of the releases I was anticipating (albeit a couple of months later), but sadly there were some that I couldn't get to before the year was over.

My list is actually just shy of ten, which I'm very quite proud of! But I'm making it my job (nay, my duty) to get to these books as soon as I can.

Adelina Amouteru is a survivor of the blood fever. A decade ago, the deadly illness swept through her nation. Most of the infected perished, while many of the children who survived were left with strange markings. Adelina’s black hair turned silver, her lashes went pale, and now she has only a jagged scar where her left eye once was. Her cruel father believes she is a malfetto, an abomination, ruining their family’s good name and standing in the way of their fortune. But some of the fever’s survivors are rumored to possess more than just scars—they are believed to have mysterious and powerful gifts, and though their identities remain secret, they have come to be called the Young Elites.
Teren Santoro works for the king. As Leader of the Inquisition Axis, it is his job to seek out the Young Elites, to destroy them before they destroy the nation. He believes the Young Elites to be dangerous and vengeful, but it’s Teren who may possess the darkest secret of all.

Enzo Valenciano is a member of the Dagger Society. This secret sect of Young Elites seeks out others like them before the Inquisition Axis can. But when the Daggers find Adelina, they discover someone with powers like they’ve never seen.
Adelina wants to believe Enzo is on her side, and that Teren is the true enemy. But the lives of these three will collide in unexpected ways, as each fights a very different and personal battle. Dear 2015, Can I Have These Books NOW Please?!

The Top 10 Tuesday is a meme hosted by The Broke and Bookish where each week you post your top ten best, worst, etc. This week's topic is my ten anticipated releases of 2014! (I was a little overzealous when I created my list and mentioned more than ten books, oops!).

Happy New Years, everyone! New year means new books!! I'm so excited to read the new books and the sequels and the series enders (!!!) coming out this year. And, to be honest, I'm so excited for every single one of these. I'm too impatient to wait for them, but sadly I must.

I know this is only a few of the many books coming out in 2015, but trust that this list is going to grow tensfold when we get more into the year!
